Bay Flowers

Some months ago, we discovered a lovely bay surrounded by a quiet children's park and dining benches for picnics. Off in the distance, we could see the white little boats sailing on the clear blue water, and the blue and white hills of distant islands melted into the horizon.The view were lovely, a photographer's paradise you might say. But sadly, that day our camera wasn't working all too good... it was nearly out of battery and I couldn't do much zooming, so the pictures were few and some rather blurry. But there were some lovely flowers about, and thankfully I WAS able to take shots of them:

"The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come,
 and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land..."
~Song of Solomon 2: 12

Dear Joy;

I'm sorry I'm such a slow commenter. :(

These are beautiful photographs, and I love the flowers.

There are not many flowers round here right now - even if its supposed to be in the low 70's F. today. :) Its winter....no flowers. :)

Well...we did see some cameilas (sp?) at a house some 100 miles north in NC. Do ya'll have cameilias?

With all my love;
April

Lovely flowers! They are beautiful--especially because right now all the flowers around here are buried under snow. ;)
I didn't know you had a photography blog, Joy--thanks for letting me know! You have some beautiful shots--just from taking a peek at your previous posts, this one is a favorite of mine. =)
Just out of curiosity, what camera do you use?

In Christ's love,
Emily Grace

Dear April,

There are a lot of flowers about now where I live :)... it is a pity not to have flowers about, but then do you have snow? That would be so special too (we don't!)!!
What colour are camellias generally? If I had an idea, I'd probably be able to associate with what kind of flower you're talking about!!

Thank you for leaving such a sweet comment, dear sister. You are a blessing to me!

Hey Emily!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet encouragement! It made my day :). I love flowers about =D, but snow is really special too!!

Oh I usually use a Canon PowerShot A495, but it has played up a lot and gets out of battery quickly. We just got a new one, a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W570 and it has been great. I love it!
Both are just ordinary cameras though. One day, I'd like to save up to getting one of those proper photography cameras but until then, these are just fine! What camera do you use?
Many blessings in Christ,
~Joy

You're so very welcome! =D

I use my mom's Canon Rebel Xsi most of the time, but I also have a Nikon Coolpix L24 that I use too. =) Whenever I get my own DSLR, I'd like to have the Canon 7D.

Have a wonderful evening, Joy! =)

Thanks for telling me, Emily :). I honestly am awfully ignorant of most camera brands styles and things like that :p. Uhm... what is exactly a DSLR? I've heard that name being used often with professional photographers, but what makes it so special?
God bless you, Emily!

You're welcome. =)

DSLR stands for a Digital Single-Lens-Reflex camera. Basically that means that when you look through the viewfinder that is exactly what your camera sees. Here is a diagram to help you understand. =)
With point and shoot cameras you don't see exactly what the camera sees. Also with point and shoot cameras you don't have manual modes to control the shutter speed(how fast the photo is taken), aperture(how much light the lens lets in), ISO(the sensor's sensitivity to light), and focus. Another thing that makes DSLR's special is the fact that they have interchangeable lenses.
Does that help/make sense?

Love in Christ,
Emily Grace

P.s. Honestly, if you had asked me last year that question I would have had no idea. Since then I've had the opportunity to take a wonderful photography course from a Christian perspective, Photographic L.I.G.H.T. =D I highly recommend it!

Oh, thank you again so much, Emily! DSLR sounds so wonderful... I should think of saving to buy one sometime!! I've often wondered how photography pics often have amazing colour effects that I simply wouldn't be able to do naturally. I think it makes pretty good sense, thank you! So, you're saving to buy one, right? That's great, though your photos are already really amazing!!

Thanks for sharing that, Emily.
Love in Christ,

You're welcome, Joy!

Thank you so much! I currently use my mom's DSLR, but I am also hoping to save enough for my own soon. =)

Now with all that you've said about it, I think I will start saving for one too *smiling broadly*!
